FEST-Engineering Ltd. is proud to have collaborated with Primetals Technologies Czech Republic on the prestigious Aperam project. The assignment involved the design and production documentation for a dust extraction system used in the preheating phase of a converter at a steel mill in Belgium. This project focused on improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impacts in steel production processes.
Key Project Features:
Converter Preheating Fume Suction Units:
- EA_19_MEN2000: Diameter 1500 mm, Length approximately 50 m
- C_HX8W_EA_18: Diameter 1700 mm (Rectangle: 1200x1500), Length approximately 135 m
- C_HX8W_EA_19_9: Diameter 1300 mm (Rectangle: 1000x1300), Length approximately 55 m
The system effectively handles dust extraction from the converter preheating process, ensuring environmental compliance and operational safety.
The scope of the project included:
- Design of steel structure of dedusting gas duct (square and round cross section, diameter 1200mm up to 1700mm)
- Design of supporting steel satructure of ducts
- 3D model and fabrication drawings
- Thermal dilatation analysis
- Load and anchorage plans
- Stress and strengh analysis of ducts, buckling analysis, seismic analysis according to Eurocodes
- Static calculation of supporting structure according to Eurocodes
Design values:
- Temperature: 270°C
- Pressure: -80 mbar
- Weight of ducts: 85 tons
- Weight of the secondary steel: 24 tons
